March Relief Society Meeting - Birthday Dinner

Calling all Super Sisters!!

It's time to celebrate the birthday of the organization of the Relief Society with a "super" service project. Our celebration will take place on Thursday, March 13th at 6pm in the Cultural Hall. Babysitting will be available. Here's what we have planned for you:
  • Dinner: A delicious Taco Salad Bar, with all kinds of yummy toppings
  • Special Message: "It's Super to be a RS Sister!"
  • Activity: Sewing for the Capes for Kids Program
Here's some more information about this totally awesome service project. The Relief Society organization was founded on the idea of service, so what better way to celebrate than by giving of our time to help serve some of our Heavenly Father's children. Enchanted Makeovers is an organization that works with homeless shelters for women and children to transform both the physical living environment, and the self-worth of the individuals that live within. We're going to join their efforts by participating in their Capes For Kids. Through this program Enchanted Makeovers donates capes to the children within the shelter, to empower them with the idea that they can be their own superhero, and choose their own path in life. As Super Sisters, we will serve together to see how many capes we can create that night.

Here's what we need from you, to help accomplish our mission.
Each cape requires 2 yards of fabric -- they could be the same fabric for both sides, or choose 1 yard of a print and 1 yard of a solid that coordinate. If it's possible, please bring 2 yards of fabric with you to our RS meeting that night. Or, if you'd prefer, you can donate a few dollars and we'll pick up the fabric for you. For every $7 we collect, we can get enough fabric to make one cape.

We're also looking for sisters to bring their sewing machines, fabric scissors, irons, and ironing boards the night of the meeting. If you could bring any of those items, look for the sign ups on Sunday.

Here are the directions for sewing the capes, so you can read through them before the project: cape directions. The sewing is very simple, and the project will be separated into stations. If you can cut, iron, or sew, you can help make a difference.

This would be a great activity to bring a friend to; the more Super Sisters we can unite, the more service we can render.

We look forward to seeing you there. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah.
